for one day a year, we can all be irish
a perfect time to forget what divides us
no one really cares how the holiday started
as long as they have an excuse to go party
where everybody wanna get drunk and wear green
socialize at parades and maybe watch a soccer team.
and its a perfecto opportunity to recognize
the impact that the irish have had on our lives
cuz a lot of irish folk made a lot of US History,
in politics, religion, even military victories
who said you can't claim the greatness of your foreparents?
not me, I'm still eating on my corned beef and cabbage.
you can take pride in your culture and still respect others
we don't need a shared family tree to love like brothers
so celebrate your culture in whatever way fits you,
and if it looks fun, we might celebrate with you.

think about it on your day off or when you take your pay.
and they invented salt and vinegar chips.
one of my favorite snacks, and stout is what you finish it with.
the white house was designed by an irish guy
with 17 presidents that reside inside.
a lot of irish made a name in the wild, wild west
on both sides of the law. history can attest
holidays should be a time for folks to come together
and celebrate the differences that make our lives better.
(its an) an opportunity for me to learn about your legacy,
your heritage, your people in a way that's not a threat to me.
so for a day let me appropriate your culture
and you and I can rise a pint of guinness with each other
let's sacrifice the hate and have some good hearted fellowship
take the stuff that separates us all and say "to hell with it".
