The inspiration for this song came from Pat Metheny’s “It’s For You” from his “As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls” CD (BTW, is that a great CD title name, or what?). The song pretty much wrote itself. My mother wanted to use the sample for her gospel group, but I already had lyrics for it. YHWH is an anagram for “Your Heart Will Heal” and is also the spelling for Yahweh, the Hebrew name for God (an alternate spelling is JHVH, or Jehovah). I saw how Islamic-leaning rappers use “Arm, leg, leg, arm ,head” to describe Allah, and thought it would be neat to do something like that for Christians. This was also my first collaboration with Pastor Jaye, who provides the chorus and sermon. The version of this song you heard on our collabo CD “Winner Take All” is a remix.
